Throwing is a dexterity based weapon proficiency used when fighting with thrown weapons. Throwing also improves your accuracy when throwing other items, such as potions or monster balls. Instead of the usual Marksman skill, it is complemented by Tactics.
All thrown weapons have a single die of damage, however all except the stone have very useful other effects.
In order to use a thrown weapon, your ammo slot must be empty. See Ranged Weapons for distance modifiers.

You can throw all food (normal with no special effects) items to NPCs who may eat it if they are hungry. There is a chance of causing ailments to the NPC through force-feeding safe or dangerous foods. Throwing Natto, butter, and yogurt at the target and missing, will destroy the food. Non-hungry targets will take damage according to the weight.
30 skill levels needed to learn Struck Out.
40 skill levels needed to learn Destiny Dice.
40 skill levels or Jiu-Jitsu feat, 60 dexterity needed to learn Send Throw.
50 skill levels needed to learn Shining Throw.
60 skill levels and 30 Meditation needed to learn OverLimit-Throw.
150 total levels of Alchemy, Throwing, Magic Device, Literacy needed to learn Power Item.
