Mandrakes are hostile NPCs. A low-level enemy in Elona, they belong to the race of the same name. They are weak, but semi-rare to encounter, and spawn the most in low Danger Level dungeons and Hunting missions, very rarely as targets for Panic missions.

In combat, they use a melee routine.They have no special actions, spells, or class.

Their corpses give a considerable training boost to Magic when eaten.

Customization

The sprite number for mandrakes is 175.

Elona+ Changes

Relating to their mythological origin, mandrakes can now use the Sound Ball spell.

They have an updated sprite.

They, like all NPCs, now spawn trained in the Firearm skill.

Their corpses are one of the necessary materials for crafting Mandrake Salad, which grants a period of increased stat growth to Magic and Will. Whether it is cooked, raw or rotten does not affect the result. Their corpses grant sound resistance.

Evolution

As of version 1.52, mandrake can evolve into swordmandrake with a <another heart>. Gaining 20 Strength, 20 Mana, 30 Speed, the Shining wave special action, and a new sprite.

Their new sprite is number 894 (row 28, column 4) with tint color 8.

Etymology

• Mandragora officinarum
