Faith

Faith is a Will based skill that allows you to gain favor with your god. If you have reached the maximum level of favor determined by your Faith skill, subsequent offerings will tell you that the god is indifferent. If you believe in one of the gods, Faith is trainable in the following ways:

• Getting a random dream event ("A saint comes and blesses you in your dream")
• Reading a scroll of faith
• Reading an <Art of Faith> skillbook

If you don't believe in gods, reading scrolls of faith will do nothing to your Faith skill. However, you could still raise your Faith skill by reading the <Art of Faith> skill book.

Faith is not favor, which is what truly determines the magnitude of your god's bonuses and your eligibility for god gifts. Buffed Faith determines the upper limit of favor. Note that if your buffed Faith decreases, it does not affect your favor - you just won't be able to raise your favor until your buffed Faith increases.

Changes in Elona+

In Elona+, having over 10 Faith unlocks the Preach special action.

Preaching trains your Faith and your pets' Faith, and may convert listeners to your patron god and collect some money in donations.

Preaching can be used to pass the "party time" quest, making faith an alternative to performing.
