<Erystia> the scholar of history is a friendly NPC in Palmia, heavily involved in the Main Quest. She stays at the library at the far left of the city, just below the throne room and above the city's western entrance.
Should the player attempt to talk to her before the Main Quest is started, they'll be ignored. Once the player has spoken to Slan and then to King Xabi, however, she'll be talking to the player a lot more.
As the Main Quest progresses, Erystia will give keys to unlock deeper floors of Lesimas, and supply information about the quest's dungeons and back story. After the three outer dungeons (Tower of Fire, Crypt of the Damned, and Ancient Castle) are completed, she will give the player the <Palmia Pride> from Queen Stersha.
She can give some exposition on the dungeons and history of Tyris.
Although a Wizard, she does not use spells and will only use melee attacks if provoked.

The sprite number for Erystia the scholar of history is 340. Her portrait is located at number 119 on the sheet (female portrait number 55).
Changes in Elona+[]
Erystia received a makeover in Elona+, with her sprite now matching her in-game portrait. Due to an extra line being added to the male portraits, her new portrait is located at number 135 on the sheet. Her female portrait number is the same at 55.
Talking to her after completing the South Tyris part of the main quest will allow you to talk to the Captain in Port Kapul for your first trip to the Lost Irva continent. You need to talk to her twice and pick the correct option in order for her to give you the introduction letter. After reaching Floor 4 of the Cradle of Chaos and talking to <Marka> the silver bear, you'll need to speak to Erystia again to progress in the story; she'll also reward you with the <Asteroid Belt>, 5 platinum coins, 5 card packs, 5 small medals, and 500 music tickets after the dialogue ends.
