Defender is the first reward from worshiping Jure of Healing. As their name implies, they are defense-oriented pets, and one of the few NPCs in vanilla Elona to have healing spells and skills.

Their attack routine is melee. They have the ability to cast Holy Shield, Regeneration, and Healing Rain when low on HP. Their most notable skill however, is the exclusive ability "Lay Hand!", which will heal the PC or an ally that has dropped to 0 or less HP; this ability can only be used once and needs to be recharged by sleeping. If the player has no use for the Holy Lance, it's suggested to give it to the Defender to increase their healing potential.

Evolution[]

In Elona+, defenders can be evolved into an Absolute Defender using a <god heart>, gaining 40 constitution, 10 magic, 50 speed, a 1/30 chance of using the Absolute Protect special action, and a new sprite.

Changes in Elona+[]

Besides the aforementioned evolution, defenders now spawn with higher levels in Tactics, Firearm, and Two Hand.

They also can be found in Shrine of Guardian as neutral NPCs. However, they cannot be captured nor dominated.

Changes in Omake Overhaul[]

In Omake overhaul, if the player is following Jure, can catch signals from god, and lay hand is invoked on them, they will hear a "certain" message.
