Black cat is an NPC and is the first reward from worshiping Ehekatl of Luck.
Although one may presume that it is a cat and thus its ability to wield equipment is limited, it is, in fact, a servant and has normal equipment slots. The avatar of a god is not limited by mere physical appearance!
The black cat can cast Magic Dart and can use the Drain Blood and Eye of Insanity special actions. Black cats will also use a ranged weapon if appropriately equipped. They also have the innate ability to float.
Licking ability[]
When you receive the black cat, it will say, "Weapons and armors licked by this cat receive a blessing of Ehekatl which adds an extra enchantment." When the cat gets the killing blow, even at a distance or via a special action or spell, it may lick one or more equipment items dropped. This will auto-save the game. Licked items will acquire an additional attribute (e.g. "maintains Luck" or "deals massive damage to dragons".), as well as the attribute "It is blessed by Ehekatl."
This may be abused by trading equipment to adventurers - or NPCs, if one has an I want it! quest targeting them - attacking them, letting the cat kill them, and save-scumming if the result was not desirable. Note that this will be bad for karma and for your relation with adventurers.
In Elona+, it is possible to use a Duel Glove to get adventurers or other NPCs to drop their inventories, this means only a karma penalty for pickpocketing might apply to the strategy.
Evolution[]

In Elona+, black cats can be evolved using a <god heart> into one of two gender-dependent evolutions. Male black cats become Big Black Cat, gaining 20 strength, 10 perception, 10 will, and 50 speed. Female black cats become Black Catsister, gaining 10 strength, 10 perception, 10 will, 20 magic, and 50 speed. Both genders gain the Browbeat special action and a new sprite.

Changes in Elona+[]
Besides the aforementioned evolution, they have new Lock Picking and stronger Firearm skills.
They can also be found in the Ulm-Leson and Mirage Tower as neutral NPCs. They cannot be dominated nor captured, although they can be copied.
