Currently playing as a snail tourist in E+. Got Riding as the first skill. Gardening as the second. Basically, that is all you need for PC grinding - there are always lots of harvest time quests in Yowyn and Vernis. Also these two towns have no cleaner, who obviously is your arch-nemesis for at least lvl 20. PC farming goes as easy as for any other class, although much more PC is required to learn useful skills. Don't waste any PC on improving skill potential, learn new skills only - bonus points and sleeping are enough to keep all skills at 50%+ potential at low lvl. 

Don't forget to hire maid as soon as possible and to get farm. Visits from trainer and herbs are good for raising your attribute potentials while your negotiation and investing is too low to get potential potions from magic vendors.

Now I am at lvl 16 and just started to learn and practice magic skills (Literacy 11, Casting 15). Staff of Insanity will be equipped to ranged slot once I get it. Marksman path is probably easier according to messages above, but I hope that caster has better late-game potential.

Also, it is much easier to get great allies while playing as a caster.

Doctor Gavela can give slots to snail, lowest ini is an advantage for AP, so in E+ it isn't that bad.

I've been through so many death. So many hardwork and save-scumming. So many starting over (still as snail tourist). I took my pace slow and steady. The highest level my patience can keep up is 32. Now that I think about it again, it's not that hard. Patience is the key. Like purposely lower fame.

The more I play tourist snail as magician, the less significant snail's disadvantages are. lvl 48, Speed is already at 132 (well above 300 with speed spell active), about 1.5k HP and 2k mana, insanity staff in ranged slot - other items are generally irrelevant, since allies are tanking. Next goal is to practice Domination spell (currently at lvl 28) and get some strong allies.

So far the biggest disadvantage is lack of item slots which causes certain lack of defensive stats. I hope to fix it after completing North Tyris main quest.

So, apparently snail race is broken. The ridiculously low INI stat results in insane AP gain late-game. lvl 90, 14k total AP used, slightly over 1k base speed (about 1400 under speed spell), The only real weakness that remains is quite low Life stat since I had to sacrifice it for inventory slots.
